Guided by principles of human-scale development and equitable growth, the City of Jackson Department of Planning and Development advances inclusive planning that supports sustainable neighborhoods, balanced progress, and opportunities for all across the city.
The Code Enforcement division strives to sustain and stabilize living and working environments throughout the City of Jackson. We educate the community that it’s not about where you live, but how you live, in an effort to enforce federal, state, and local codes and ordinances. We also work with other agencies to maintain the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens.
Community Improvement works hand-in-hand with other divisions, agencies, and associations to identify violations that have become a public nuisance. We then work with owners to correct those violations.
The division is actively combating blight by seeking voluntary owner compliance. We use the judicial system as a last resort and assist by using federal, state, and local funding to remedy violations by absentee owners.
